My current contemporary abstract work primarily explore the relationship of my inscape and the external landscape around me i.e themes of transformation, revival, renewal and expansion which are embodied in the symbolic, abstract aspects of nature and mostly of sea.
In the play of underwater swimming the past summers in the Aegean sea on the Greek islands I became addicted to the alpha brain dream like state it would put me into. There was an aligning of self with the rhythm of the natural world, a communicating with the elements around me. In the changing shapes, patterns and colors, in the play of light and dark, in the kinetic motion of ebb and flow there was a reflecting of my own inner states and there was a beckoning to transcending an emotional scale of discord and to experiencing a state of coherence, wholeness and expansiveness ....an openness to achieving total expression.
An invitation to being part of something greater, calmer, freer ...something everlasting and perfect.
This is what my new body of work 'Thalassa' embodies.
